Name the source type
An official notice comes from the project, regulator or service named in the claim. A report attributes information to a source. A commentary offers interpretation. An advertisement aims to persuade. A screenshot or forwarded message is evidence of what someone posted, not proof that the claim is true.
Open the original
Follow the link to the canonical domain, check the publication date and read the full passage around a quote. Compare the named network, product, legal entity and jurisdiction. If the page has changed, save a timestamped copy of the source and label what remains unconfirmed.
Use a publishable checklist
- Write the claim in one sentence and separate facts from forecasts.
- Look for a second independent source with a different editorial chain.
- Do not share referral links or request funds while the claim is unverified.
